Black ministers not named Bruce Wall to endorse Menino today

If you happen to be near the Eliot Congregational Church in Roxbury around 2:30 this afternoon, you'll get to see a bunch of ministers lending their imprimatur to Tom Menino's re-election effort. Among the ministers planning to endorse Hizzona are Evan Hines of the Eliot Church, Jeffrey Brown of the Union Baptist Church in Cambridge and Bishop Gideon Thompson of the Jubilee Christian Church.

Wall isn't endorsing a candidate, but has made it clear over the past couple of years he has no love for Menino.

Menino should not accept endorsement of an anti-gay hater

This is lifted right from an old Boston Phoenix article about Bishop Thompson: "Thompson has served as the [Boston Minister's Alliance]’s designated attack dog on the issue [of same-sex marriage]. When State Senator Dianne Wilkerson, who is African-American, spoke out in favor of gay marriage last year, Thompson condemned her for endorsing 'a radical sexual agenda that will destroy the family as it now exists.'" I can't believe that Tom Menino would knowingly accept an endorsement from such a person.

Is it possible his opinion has since changed?

A lot of people who were initially against gay marriage have since noticed that the sky didn't fall, and have come to accept it.

Other ministers for Menino

According to the Menino campaign: Bishop Nellie Yarborough of Mt. Calvary Holy Church, Greg Groover of Charles Street AME Church, David Wright of the Black Ministerial Alliance, Eugene Rivers, III of the Azusa Christian Community, Conley Hughes of Concord Baptist Church and Arlene Hall of Deliverance Temple Worship Center.

Menino wont deliver for the community

Why won't Menino walk the walk in the community? He refuses outright to enforce the Boston Resident's Job Policy - directly taking jobs from the community. All the non-performing schools are in the community and kid are killing kids on our streets. Menino is there too long. We need new leadership in the city.

lies

crime is down, homicides are down, schools are improving, and the community knows who has been there for them and who wants to bring back the "Old Boston"

These ministers are showing they have no integrity

Lying down with a dog like Menino will get u fleas! This mayor is so corrupt and shortchanges the black community at every turn and they endorse him??? Sell-outs all of them! If I was a member of their church I'd leave!

Ministers are supposed to have integrity and endorsing Menino says the opposite!

At least one of the ministers doesn't even live in Boston!
