Great day for a parade

Today was the annual Columbus Day parade through the North End. Lots of marching bands, of course, along with a float of clowns throwing clown noses into the crowds. One lady put hers on:

One high school's uniforms were kind of unsettling:

Fortunately, there were plenty of marchers with more traditional uniforms:

It wouldn't be a parade down Hanover Street without saints and green, white and red:

Shriners, of course:

Parades are one of the few times it's OK to take candy from a stranger:

This guy was loving driving his old Triumph down Hanover with the top down:

I think the gothesque marchers might be color guard or winter guard. Winter guard is traditionally an indoor sport (hence the name), but often will have rather theatrical outfits and props, so this might be a winter guard that also does outdoor parades.

(Also, whyyyyyy does Columbus Day get celebrated? Yay, genocides!)

Only %1-2% of fundraising money collected actually goes to their hospitals. They're basically a partying charity...
