Boston City Hall is uglier than a seven-story picnic basket

Matthew Yglesias makes the case (and yes, there really is a seven-story tall picnic basket, in Newark, OH).

Yglesias rates Citty Hall as "ugly"....

...in part because of the _way_ it (and the surrounding area) got "urban renewed".

Ignoring this history, I think it fits in perfectly well with the surrounding structures.

Which doesn't mean it's not ugly

Faint praise. I ask visiting out of towners if they think it's a) a parking garage, b) a jail, or c) city hall. My niece guessed "jail."

Maybe I am alone in this but

Maybe I am alone in this but out of all those ugly buildings I like the basket the most. I am not a fan of the suburban large office complex but if you have to do it why not make it interesting. This one even seems to have a nice green area with flowers around it.

I like the basket

and I may be the only reader here who has actually seen the outside and taken a tour inside. It's an eye-catcher.
