Don't try going in the main entrance of Harvard station tomorrow

Movie filming, of course. MBTA Transit Police tweet that the "secondary" entrances and exits will be open between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., but that you should expect "minor" crowds and delays.

Subway to bus transfers?
There is a secondary entrance to the subway at Church Street, and a secondary entrance to the busway on Brattle Street, but the main lobby is where people transfer between buses and the subway. It's very busy. Should a movie shoot really be allowed to disrupt this?
We're talking about a state that shut an interstate for a movie
Anything for Ben or Tom or Kevin!
Kevin?
Kevin?
You know, the giraffe guy
Kevin James, star of stage and screen. Well, "King of Queens" and "Mall Cop," at any rate. He's filming a movie here, too, in which he gets dating advice from animals at the zoo (except, alas, for that giraffe, RIP).
Sounds like something that
Sounds like something that should be done on a Sunday....
And Ron, perhaps theyre only filming by the entrance to the headhouse and not the lobby... or else they should have filmed after hours.
What movie is this?
What movie is this?
Strictly a guess
"The Social Network," which is about the creation of Facebook (really).
Because the other movies would involve helicopters exploding right in the pit or something and police didn't mention any need to watch out for flaming debris.
And my guess was wrong
That'll teach me.
The Chronicle tweets it's "The Town," Ben Affleck's shooter-upper.
ahh, that explains "Special Event 10/20, Expect Delays" signs
There's a variable-message sign on southbound Mass. Ave near the Cambridge Common, which for several days has been announcing "SPECIAL EVENT, HARVARD SQ, 10/20 EXPECT DELAYS". At first I thought it was for the Head of the Charles, but the date was wrong and I couldn't figure out what it was all about.
Today I saw a similar sign on northbound JFK Street, saying it would be closed between Mt. Auburn and Brattle streets on 10/20 for a "special event". Then I came back to Universal Hub and re-read this thread. Now it all makes sense -- but it's going to make a huge mess on a work and school day.
I hope MBTA.com will give some information on what's going to happen to the #66 and #86 buses that usually run through this area. The Harvard shuttle vans will have fun, too.
Just walked through the area
Just walked through the area on my lunch break. They're not filming below ground -- only at the entrance. Traffic is still flowing (pretty much) as usual. They only have half of a lane blocked off on Mass Ave.
Good that the T police tweeted this information.
However, why wasn't a similar notice also posted on the "Service Alerts" section of the T's web page?
It's been going on all week
There have been lots of theatrical equipment trucks around all week, and it looks like they were filming night scenes on Mt. Auburn street last night. Parking and traffic more bolluxed than usual in that area.
