Attack of the ladybugs

They're everywhere! What's the deal?

Here too

They were all over the side of my house this afternoon, looked like they were just enjoying the sun.

Pretty soon they'll be all over the inside of the house - I've been getting them for a few years now. They hide all over the house then seem to just die over the winter.

The front of our house is infested. My children are collecting them and putting them on plants. There are hundreds if not more. Any readers have any insight?

Funny, I noticed them today....

....all over Franklin Park. Very annoying in that they were everywhere and wouldnt stop chirping about stenographic machines at city hall.

None here. I've got swarms

None here. I've got swarms of tiny flies that show up in late afternoon and fly around in the setting sun.

The yearly hatch

We arent even using our back door right now ... Lady bugs EVERYWHERE!

They hatch in the fall. Don't know why, just know that it has happened just about everywhere I have lived, save Kenmore square. We had them swarming out of our shed this afternoon.

Indian summer sort of thing I guess.

ladybugs

Wow! It sounds like you guys have it worse than we do, but I just wanted to chime in that we in Paxton (next to Worcester) noticed that something was up with the ladybugs today. We only had a handful of them on our picture window, with others landing and taking off, their colorful wings looking bright orange as they flew past in the sunlight. My six year old and I had a blast pretending we were air traffic controllers guiding the planes in for a landing. Lots of action on the window today.

I'm glad it is something cute like ladybugs; they are always fun to watch. Let's hope we don't get any swarms or indoor visitors, though.

Me, too.

Yeah. I was wondering the same thing... There seem to be more than usual. When I was a little kid, I thought there were cute and precious. Right now, they seem like moths which really diminishes their cuteness.

I was hoping to see a post for ladybugs

OK, so it's not exactly a hot mayoral race, but man, these things were out in full force yesterday out here in MetroWest. I first noticed them at the end of my bike ride, and a few of them came inside with me. Then, sitting in my office, I was watching tons of them outside the window. I was wondering how widespread they were.

They mentioned that on the news this morning

Something about how they went into nests/hibernation when it was cold, now it's warm and they're out again.

this is true

I used to work at Mass Audubon and they have a section on this topic. "Living with Wildlife: Ladybugs in Houses"

Just one at our house so far...

... but it was contentedly hanging out on our living-room window for the entire day.

They're everywhere!

I go to BU and these bugs are all over my dorm windows. Fortunately, they can't get in. I'm posting photos tomorrow. And um, I no longer think they're cute.
