Microsoft wins a battle in Massachusetts

As predicted here, Peter Quinn, the Massachusetts CIO leading the effort to bring open standards to electronic state documents, has quit, following a smear campaign in which he was accused (then unaccused) of being on the take for attending and speaking at industry trade shows at which open-source issues were discussed.

Bonus fun fact: The Globe story linked above was written by Stephen Kurkjian, whose original front-page story accusing Quinn of possible wrongdoing was basically retracted a week later (on page B1).

My standard newspaper disclosure.
