Thanks for the mention!
Hey there - thanks for the link to my photos! It was a beautiful night on Jamaica Pond.
A wonderful event
I'd never been to it before tonight, but you can be sure I'll return next year.
Those lanterns are so beautiful!
Does anyone know how those lanterns were made? They are beautiful; I wish I could have been there.
They appear to be soda bottles, which has my creative gears turning, but I could use hints on how the rest is created to turn them into lamps.
Thanks; great photos.
They are soda bottles
They're soda bottles with the tops cut off, and wrapped with tissue paper.
one more thing
The bottles and tissue part were sort of easy to see....but what about the lighting? THAT is the part that sort of baffles me. I am not used to creating electrical things. :-)
lanterns lit by...
the lanterns are lit by candles.
candles
No electricity involved. Just candles, mostly. I did see a couple of people that had some battery operated lights in their lanterns. But the bluish tinted LEDs didn't have quite the same charm.
Still up?
This looks really awesome. Are the lanterns still up? I have a feeling they aren't, but if they are I want to ride up to the pond tonight!
I doubt it
The lanterns contain candles which have surely burned down by now. Also, for the most part the lanterns were carried by people (like me) walking around the pond after sunset, rather than just being statically placed.
