Muslim workers charge post-9/11 discrimination at Copley Plaza

A group of seven current and former employees of the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel today filed a federal civil-right suit alleging several years of harassment because of their religion and Moroccan background.

The suit, filed in US District Court in Boston, alleges the workers were blocked from advancement, given more difficult jobs than non-Muslims and were repeatedly subject to threats and insults, such as demands they admit they were terrorists or go back to Morocco - even the ones who are American citizens.

The workers, who say managers did nothing about their treatment, in fact, sometimes took part in it, seek back wages and damages for the emotional distress they say they've suffered.
