Wicked Local Allston/Brighton reports Kelly's Roast Beef wants to turn the old Marty's Liquors into a roast-beef emporium open until 2 a.m. - just down Harvard Ave. from Redneck's, which has long been open until 3 a.m.

War? No contest!
Kelly's vs. Mitti's-formerly-Redneck's-formerly-Rileys? No contest - edible food vs. vile crap that only drunks can stomach. I'm glad to see a new tenant coming into that space. That block of Harvard has gotten rather grim, with the former Marty's and Economy Hardware spaces vacant for months on end and a number of smaller long-term vacancies as well.
Looks like Korean Garden also got okayed to stay open till 1am and add liqueurs to their beer-and-wine license, and Unique Chinese got shot down on staying open till 2 but was okayed for 1am.
Kelly's is normally a good
Kelly's is normally a good neighbor so this is a very good thing. They also have been engaging in a slow expansion plan which is good. They have been allowing the dust to settle from previous expansions before moving again.
