Worcester Line so bad early this morning MBTA told riders they shouldn't even bother

"Seek alternate transportation to avoid delay," the T advised, citing CSX switch problems in Worcester.

Ben tweets:

first time riding the commuter rail in a year and a half and there is a 50 minute delay. i forgot how much the train sucks. thanks mbta

Not just a switching problem

The conductors on the train mentioned that two whole train car sets were disabled at Worcester, that's why they had to cancel the first two morning trains. Plus, the train I was on had problems stopping properly. We overshot Back Bay by two whole train cars! I had to get off on gravel and run to the platform.

Remembering what happened with the same line at South Station a few months ago, didn't want to take the risk that the train wouldn't be able to stop on time before hitting the platform there. Oy, not a good day to commute.

Not a good start to the month

Train Rider reports "out of 5 commutes this week, 3 of them have been delayed by more than 1/2 hour."

My wife, too

Since Monday, two horrible morning commutes and one bad evening commute to/from Southboro. Being a passholder (or whatever it's called), she gets rebates. Talk about a money drain for the T.

Union

This week has been awful. BUt I wonder - about a year ago there was a union action where conductors would only open a few doors, etc. just to slow things down - I think they were mad about have cell phones being prohibited.

Monday was the start of the new state agency taking over the MBTA. Is a message being sent? with riders again the victims?
