West Roxbury teens ring in the New Year in jail

Boston Police report that four wanna-be toughs from Boston's quiet neighborhood learned a valuable lesson shortly before midnight: Boston Common on New Year's Eve is not the best place to go around attacking people at random:

... Twenty minutes before the New Year, members of the Boston and State Police along with ATF Agents observed a group of males punching and kicking a 19-year-old male, from Hanover, at Beacon and Joy Streets. The victim was transported to the Massachusetts General Hospital bleeding from the face in a semi-conscious state. ... Three suspects were apprehended with the assistance of officers working the First Night festivities. A Boston Police Captain apprehended one after a lengthy foot chase.

Westie Pride, indeed.

Yeah, that was my first thought, too - but so far, their MO seems to have been to threaten and beat up people they know.

Thanks for providing that link, Adam. I followed links there further back to
http://www.universalhub.com/fruits-veggies.html , where I read the quote from the mother of an alleged member sdaying that detectives wanted to keep West Roxbury from getting like Dorchester. Gotta love that--don't look at my kids, look at the ones who are doing something even more violent! And she's also saying that her mostly white, mostly middle-class neighborhood is superior to a mixed-race and low-income one. Lovely.
