Smoking Orange Line train sparks brief disruption

The Boston Fire Department ordered power shut on the Orange Line between State Street and Downtown Crossing shortly after 10 p.m. when smoke appeared in the State Street station. Power was restored not long after when firefighters discovered the smoke was coming from one particular train, not another track fire, according to Boston Fireman and Local 718.

No T employees seen or heard

I was on that train. The train stopped at State. When the doors opened we smelled a lot of smoke. We could see smoke coming from under the train. The passengers quickly decided to get out and leave the station. We did not see or hear any T employees or hear any announcement. When we got upstairs to the street there were fire engines, but no T employees seen or heard. We walked to Downtown Crossing since we were changing to the Red Line. We finally found one T employee to let us through the gates for free after making some noise.
2 stations, 1 fire, and only 1 T employee seen or heard.Good thing we didn't wait for instructions.
