Still not quite ready for prime time, but if you want to get a look at what Sooz and I are planning for BostonBlogs.com, take a gander at the test site (just don't bookmark it, since once we're done tinkering, the URL will change, to bostonblogs.com).

The basic idea: Create a site that's all about Boston-area blogs as a newsworthy community all by itself. So we'll post news about what local blogs and bloggers are up to on their sites, let you know about new blogs and blog services, organize get-togethers and, of course, give you a directory of local blogs.

For you technical types, it's running Drupal. Through the miracle of RSS, it'll pick up all blog-related posts here on Universal Hub - plus, of course, folks can post directly to the site. The directory listings will be fed from Boston Online. So, yes, there will be some overlap between hither and thither and yon, but, hey, there are probably more than 1,000 bloggers in the Boston area - and that's a pretty big community of people doing interesting stuff.
