Another Green Line accident: Several hurt at North Station

Channel 7 reports a driver in a westbound trolley stopped short tonight, sending passengers flying. Interestingly, the trolley continued to Government Center, where some passengers were removed on stretchers, the station says.

I was transferring from the southbound Orange Line to the northbound Red Line right around the time this news story was posted (10:32 pm). Didn't hear anything about it from any passengers or T employees or announcement signs.

Edit: since Adam changed the post, this comment was referring to the earlier and less detailed Fox25 report.

Passengers injured on Green Line train

MBTA officials say the driver of a green line train hit the brakes too hard and stopped short coming into North Station, tossing passengers around.

Several passengers complained of injuries. They were let off at Government Center and treated by paramedics.

At least two passengers were taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Witnesses say some people were being put onto stretchers.

I've switched my link to Channel 7. Is it odd that the trolley continued to Government Center?

The operator might not have realized that anyone was claiming injury until the car had reached Government Center. If people standing got tossed down a stepwell at the rear of the car after a quick stop (just a guess), it might not have been obvious at the front that anyone was injured.

Isn't that S.O.P.? Passengers are just an impediment to coffee breaks and retirement at 52 years old anyway. WHO NEEDS 'EM!

Probably because that station has a turnaround loop track where the trolley could stop, park, and get out of the way of all other traffic.

Thr turn-around loop that let's cars from North Station/Lechmere short-turn at Government Center is normally used to store cars over the weekend and nights, and probably would have been blocked.
