Novel way for the T to raise money

It is disturbing and sad

It is disturbing and sad that clear intent of this site, with its reach and influence, is cheap, snide sarcastic comments rather than clarity and honest conversation.

Yes.

Quite.

Shocked!

Just shocked to discover gambling in this establishment!

(Oh boy, my mom's yelling down the basement steps. Better put my pajamas back on in case she comes down here to yell at me for not cleaning up my empty Cheet-o bags and pudding cups!)

Have you ever seen the Daily Show?

Sometimes snide sarcasm is the clearest and most honest response to a situation.

If the T doesn't like it, they should try sucking less.

I just contested a ticket tonight, successfully!

Big caveat up front: my commuter rail lot is owned by the town of Mansfield, and they write the tickets. The T police may do things differently.

That said, on the front of our citations (which are also envelopes) there's a notice saying how to appeal: instead of mailing payment, you send back a letter requesting a hearing. I pay for parking with coins, which sometimes fall to the bottom of the box, and both times I've been ticketed for non-payment, the ticket has been dismissed because there was extra money in the bottom of the box noted by the parking collectors.

Good luck!

(There, now, that wasn't cheap, sarcastic, or snarky, was it, anon?)

The commuter rail lots in Melrose are city-owned as well.

However, several years ago, they replaced the slot boxes with machines where you get a ticket and place it on your dashboard (simlar to Newbury Street in Boston). They also offer monthly permits for a fee (and you don't need to be a resident to get one).

Admittedly, the ticket machines are kinda of a pain because of 1) where they are located in relation to the platform and 2) the fact they only take quarters or dollar coins, and don't accept bills or credit/debit cards. However, these limitations are offset by the fact that you get a physical ticket, which pretty much assures that you won't be marked for a violation provided you do put the ticket on the dash.

BTW, back in the days of the slot boxes at Melrose Highlands, I was ticketed twice for questionable reasons (once was "failing to park in a marked space" - they had repaved the lot and there were only temporary contractor's orange stripes). In both cases, I called the City parking clerk the next day, explained the situation and got the tickets dismissed on the spot.

Probably not City owned

I'm betting that these are from LAZ parking. Their "contesting" process is pretty much a giant "%$#@ you", which I found out earlier in the year.
