Robert Kraft not the only one to get a footbridge

The Globe reports the state will use $30 million in federal stimulus funds - plus another $30 million that's been sitting in a Big Dig account for years - to erect a Colossus-size statue of Kraft bestriding Boston Harbor build long promised footbridges across and near the mouth of the Charles River, by the Zakim Bridge.

The Globe doesn't say if any of that money will go toward the skate park that state planners have been promising is about a year away for roughly 10 years now.

Thirty million dollars has been sitting in a Big Dig account for years? That must be a different Big Dig from the one that went tens of billions of dollars over-budget and now hangs like an anchor around the necks of the MBTA, the Mass Pike and the state.

I think there are three planned pedestrian bridges. I think this is only money for one of them.

from running in that area, the one they are planning is the one I would most want. The other two look like they solve problems that don't really exist. I mean, one of them goes right over a place where you can already cross the river on foot.
