the vermont lady and your reaction is a good example of why progressive liberals are losing their political battle. no one like being preached to about their failings. especially when they know the preacher is right. doubtless you've already made the brilliant assessment that "smoking is bad for you". you don't really need some self-righteous prick lecturing you...and yet your reaction leaves me wondering who the bigger a-hole is.

i suppose what you are enraged by is not the content of the message, but the attitude with which it is delivered. but how can you justify reacting with such childishness?

people who toss their butts on the ground (and this is almost every smoker i see) are saying "the world is my ashtray". it's the equivalent of tossing your garbage in someone elses yard. look down at the ground sometime, you can't walk two feet without seeing a cigarette butt, they're fiberglass and don't decay. in boston there are often piles of them and they are crushed into every crevice of the sidewalk and gutter.

if the woman's bumper sticker had said " protect the environment" would you have dumped garbage out the window, just to aggravate her? or "stop child abuse" would you have slapped a child? or maybe toss the child out the window...

congratulations, your attitude of ignorant churlishness is exemplary. perhaps you should consider moving to kansas or south dakota where they will appreciate you more.
