Only in MA

I just found out that I have off from work on the 3rd Monday in April
for PatriotsDay. Living in MA sometimes feel like I'm learning the
rites and rituals of  a whole new culture.

March 17 is a legal holiday in Suffolk County - although you'll only notice it if you have a kid in public school or you need to conduct business at City Hall (and our fine local courts?).

Yes, wasn't it nice of George Washington to choose St. Patrick's Day to fire the cannon dragged barefoot through the snow from Ft. Ticonderoga upon Boston and drive out the occupying British troops - just so generations of self-aggrandizing drunken Irish politicians can have a day off from 'work' on Bacon Hill in order to sing songs nobody remembers in South Boston?

Porcupine is waiting for the day when ONE of these hacks actualy mentions the reason for the legal observance.

i remember all of those songs, and i will be singing them at doyle's (not southie) while you are at home being miserable, looking up words like self-aggrandizing on the online dictionary. while you are on dictionary.com, look up the proper spelling of "actually" and read about run on sentences.
