We traditionalists will always think of it as the Shawmut Center.

Toronto Garden

On another board, someone pointed out that "TD" stands for "Toronto Dominion" -- so what we really have now is the Toronto Garden, right here in Boston.

Yes, but ...

Isn't that sort of spelling out what "NABISCO" stands for? As in, who cares? Who is actually going to say "Yeah, we're going to the TD Banknorth Garden tonight for that concert?" It'd be like saying "Isn't the Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Bridge pretty?" (speaking of which, who knew there's a Web site just for the bridge?)

Let's have a Gahden Pahty

I wonder how many people realize that the original Boston Garden opened as Boston Madison Square Garden. To this day, I believe there's still a Boston Madison Square Garden Club inside the FleetCenter. So the very name "Garden" is an import from NYC.

Incidentally, the current Madison Square Garden is the fourth building in New York to have that name.
