Cracking down on the mean streets of Roslindale

We live on what is probably one of the quietest streets in the entire city - nothing ever happens here (well, almost nothing). So we don't get many police patrols here. But this afternoon, while upstairs, we saw a patrol car going by, then slowing down. Stopped outside our neighbor's house. A couple minutes later, it was gone.

Turns out they'd stopped to write a ticket. Our neighbor, like many folks on the street, had parked partially on the sidewalk - and facing the wrong direction. Yes, he's breaking the law. But it wasn't hurting anybody (still enough room for pedestrians to get by and, given how narrow our street is, it's partially a defensive move to keep his outside mirrors from getting snapped off). And before I whine, I guess I should be glad I live in a neighborhood that's quiet enough the police can take the time to drive down backwater streets and write out tickets - instead of having to respond to Yet Another Shooting. But still!
