What Happened to Jim?
By amusings - 3/16/05 - 2:42 pm
I'm listening to the radio at work, and I'm shocked. The 1-800-EastWest mortgage radio commercial now starts with "Ya know, Owen" coming from the woman, Jen.
Where's Jim? What happened to Jim? Did they break up? Did he get fired? Who is this Owen and what are HIS qualifications when it comes to knowledge about mortgages!
I don't like this one bit. I'm very upset.
Where the hell is JIM! Someone please help me!!!!

Don't worry...
He's parked outside my place, blocking my car with his van.
A few weeks ago there was an East-West Mortgage van blocking my car, flashers on, driver nowhere to be seen. I honked for about 5 minutes, got no response. So then I called 1-800-East-West and got a person on the line right away. I told them one of their vans was blocking my car. The person was apologetic (and kind of amused, actually), but said the vans don't have agent numbers on them or anything and so she couldn't easily track down who was in what van.
That answers everything...
I so bet that was Jim, and when he got back to the office, someone ELSE who had witnessed the entire ordeal you suffered called the president of East West, and he got fired.
He's talking to a lawyer right now, and filing a lawsuit. You may be called upon to provide a witness statement about whether or not Jim was kind, supportive, tried to talk you into an interest only 15 year mortgage.
I just am concerned about this Owen character. He's awfully sketchy.
HEE
Dude, what's super funny is that I just applied for mortgages (and got some super deals, go me!) but that when I was trying to think of places that do them, East-West honestly didn't even occur to me as, uh, being a mortgage place. If I had been looking to call annoying people or call people with jingles, I would have thought of them, but when I was trying to think up places that do good deals on mortgages, it didn't cross my mind. I'm probably going to go with the orange mortgage. It's uh, orange.
I thought his name was
John.
In any case, maybe it's like "Bewitched."
Uh...
No, because then his name would be Darrin!
Uhhhhm Yes. you are correct
I f'ed up. Jim it is. I was... in a panic. Very upset. I call my son Gregory (his name is Geoff) when I'm mad at him.
Brain cramp.
Now, to back end into my entry and change the name to John... heh heh. And I'd personally like to thank you guys for finding the actual news article link there on what happened. No vote of "no confidence" here! Y'all are awesome!
Goof!
I call people with that name and that spelling GOOF!
Goof!
That's awesome. Eeka, I think you're my new best friend.
BNL!
Anyone who loves BNL is a friend of mine.
I've touched Ed twice, talked to them on a few occasions, and have the crumpled setlist from a couple Mixfests back.
:o)
the info on John
The John voice owned the company at one time and sold it to a bank a few years back, but stayed on for marketing, advertising etc. Then there were problems. No more John.
Voice of East/West poised to move on
I'm less happy than when Margie stopped doing the National Lumber adds, but happy nonetheless.

The money quote
"A May 2004 cease-and-desist order required the bank to hire qualified management, including a compliance officer to ensure state and federal rules are being followed."
Now, could somebody gently suggest to Ernie Boch Jr. that it's time to give "Come on down!" a rest?
I wish they had mp3 links f
I wish they had mp3 links for the quotes in the article. It'd be a trip to hear him rip the company in that radio voice of his.

We're here when you need us ....
Call 1-800, well, you know the rest; I can only hope your mind doesn't also turn to mush as it plays over and over again in your head.
Grr.
You got it stuck in MINE.
Hmmmm---interesting:
Hmmmm--funny how I no longer hear the Jen & John East/West mortgage commercials on the radio any more. Lol.
Ya know--now that I really think back on it, I KNEW that there was something "funny" about their advertising, if you all know what I mean.
