Asshole at Big City

So tonight my friend and I were at Big City in Allston. We were seated at one of the bar-like fixtures away from the actual bar. I was about to go up to the bar and grab a menu, when I noticed that the bartender was talking to a sort of riled-up group of guys, giving them the "You best be running along now" friendly warning to take it somewhere else before they were asked to leave. I noticed that there was another guy, alone, seated at the bar near them, who presumably they'd offended, because as they walked out past him they were apologetically giving him a an apologetic "buddy, enjoy the rest of the night, OK?"

So I went up and the bartender was turned the other way and the lone guy turned to look at me standing there. I said "have you seen any menus hanging around here?" He said "sure, I think the bartender can hook you up." I was kind of curious what had just happened, and also felt bad for the guy, and said "OK, thanks. Hey, were those guys getting a little rowdy or something? It looked like the bartender was about ready to throw them out..." The guy gave me the most assholish look and said "If you ask. The bartender. For a menu. He'll. Give. You. A. Menu." and then stared at me coldly for a sec and then turned away.

I REALLY hope for that guy's sake that the guys had indeed been really rude to him and that he was just understandably defensive about telling a stranger that he'd been harrassed. I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and just dismiss the idea that there was someone in a total "wassup!" bar who was that much of a pompous asshole.

Wow, Shocker....hehe. I have found that it is not uncommon to find pompous assholes anywhere in this city. I am even turning into a pompous asshole just to keep up with the Joneses.

(Almost) a necessity these days!

I can even be a pompous asshole myself, when I feel the need. LOL.
