Why, in this day and age, as techonologically advanced as our society has become, is it neccesary to hang hundreds of 3-ton concrete slabs over the commuting public? I'm no engineer, but I'm sure that there is a much safer material to use as a ceiling that will accomplish the same goal. This accident was an avoidable tragedy.
I'll tell you why...
Some concrete supplier probably donated money to some politicians' campaigns.
