Good God, this is what we've come to? Basketball is now the official state sport?
Jose Melendez for one tells Mitt Romney he is outraged:
... Jose is a big fan and is proud that it was invented in Massachusetts. What's more the Basketball Hall of Fame gives the good people of Springfield something to think about other than how municipal officials were sucking quarters out of the washing machines in public housing. Still, it should not be the official sport of the Commonwealth. Jose is not saying baseball should be the official sport (note: though it should), but that the law should have remained silent on the issue.
To borrow some of your rhetoric from the gay marriage debate, since the beginning of time this has been a settled issue. There has been near universal agreement that Massachusetts has no official sport. And now after hundreds of years of democracy we tinker with some of our most sacred, civic and religious traditions (note: sports is absolutely religion here) on a whim. This is wrong and it must not stand. ...

I though it was being as rude as possible, my mistake.
State ANYTHING
I propose that any legislator who wants to make anything the state ANYTHING should be automatically barred from the next ballot. My goodness, aren't there more pressing issues?
Anyway, the state sport is graft. Everybody knows that.
