Citizens Bank customer service goes that extra mile

Of course Citizens Bank sent Spatch's new debit card to his old address and of course when he called up to find out what was up, they cancelled not only that card but his current one as well, which of course he only discovered when he tried to pay for dinner:

... My friend luckily offered to pay my share, and I offered to PayPal her back. In the meantime, I am flat broke with money I can't access, payday's Friday, and I gotta go grocery shopping at some point. I just realized my license is expired, too, so I don't think the bank will take that as ID for me to write checks for myself. ...

Oh, Citizens...still our bank, but I was ready to drop them for something similar. Someone stole my wife's purse. She immediately called card companies and banks to get new cards and cancel the old ones.

Everyone got it and did it, except Citizens. I found out a few days later when an ATM ate my card. Turns out that they cancelled my card on the same account and kept hers active. Right, the stolen one was still valid and mine was recalled for no good reason.

We have different names as well as card numbers. This was some work on their part.

Of course, the bozos at Citizens told me repeatedly and from several mouths that this was all impossible. When I badgered them, they finally checked thoroughly enough to verify that they had royally FUBAR'ed it.

It still took them nearly 10 days to get us new cards. My wife's was gone and my eaten. We did checks at tellers in the meanwhile.

No one used my wife's card in the period it was missing, no thanks to Citizens. Apparently they only wanted the cash anyway. The wallet showed up in a trashcan a few miles away a week later.
