On BadTransit, Joe Bowden reports witnessing an innovative new way to beat the CharlieGates, although part of the scheme's success involved nobody caring:

...if the user is intending to use the new fare collection system in order to cheat the T.

The sad thing is, even getting on the T for free, riders often fail to recieve service comensurate with their money's worth.
