Forget the Boys from Brazil, what about the Boys from Allston?

History of the swastika

History of the Swastika, here.

More common in cities such as New York and Chicago. Had never heard of any symbols, here in Boston.

Fascinating.

Boys from Brazil?

Perhaps I'm missing an obvious cultural reference, but what's the "Boys from Brazil" reference in the headline, Adam?

Hitlerettes

The Boys from Brazil - which poses the pressing question: What if somebody had managed to clone Hitler and raise up all these blonde kids in, well, Brazil.

Swastika pattern on Boston Common bandstand

While attending today's Deval Patrick rally, I got very close to the Common's Parkman Banstand. I noticed a concrete swastika pattern that circumnavigated the structure. In this photo from Nov. 2005, the swatstikas can bee seen behind Rep. Lewis's head.

Also, I have a 1920's era photo of my grandfather wearing a sweater with a large scale swastika emblazened across his chest and stomach. He thought nothing of it at the time and says, even if he did have any inkling of what it would come to mean (which he did not) he was not in a financial position to be picky about what symbols where on the clothes he wore.
