A good Christmas present for Anthony Everett: A dictionary

First, let me admit I love "Chronicle." Sure, sometimes it's sort of like watching 30 minutes of Yankee Magazine, but what's wrong with that? Name another news-magazine show that's all about New England.
But, yo, Anthony. Tonight you did this feature-ette on some JP woman whom you kept calling "a volunteer." Anthony, a volunteer is somebody who does something good for humanity, or helps out at her kid's school or works on a political campaign. People shilling for companies that have hired Bzz Agent to market their stuff are not volunteers.

Love Chronicle, eh?
Where is your disclosure, Adam? Weren't you featured on Chronicle back in the day? Something about Leif Erricson and Nonantum? Gee, I would *love* Chronicle too if they had me on! (j/k. This memory is like a steel trap, lol!)

That "some woman" is my best friend, so cool your jets, Adam. They just meant she does that without being paid.
And yes, that was me.

OK, so what food goes well
OK, so what food goes well with that foot I have in my mouth?
No worries
Hi! No worries, honey. I don't get paid for being a total dork, even when I am one on TV. (Thanks Ab for coming to my defense, gf!)
Just to clarify Abby's post - in college (1990) a friend (Mike) was showing off a bunch of free stuff that he got in the mail for writing mean letters to companies: "I got a peanut M&M in my plain M&Ms," "My Sprite was flat," etc.
Anywayz, I bet Mike that I would get MORE free stuff if I wrote *sincere*, happy letters thanking companies for making the products that made my life better. I won the bet hands down. I got tons of free stuff, and better yet - I was flown first-class to the Aussie Hair Care company's headquarters and put on an infomercial.
I didn't do it for the free stuff per se, but it was an interesting bored college kid experiment. And I was happy to get the free stuff, of course. I haven't done that since college.
Now I have a real job where I receive dozens of complaint calls/emails a day. It honestly makes my week it when someone takes the time to contact me with positive feedback.
Yes, that was me
My goodness, that must've been like four years ago, and I was on for maybe a minute :-).
Volunteer
n.
1. A person who performs or offers to perform a service voluntarily
Yeah... when I look up "volunteer" and "voluntarily", it's mostly about doing something because you want to, not all that stuff about non-profits you mentioned.

Oh, someone has to have tape...
...fire up the 'ol youtube!
Another thing I've been meaning to mention...I think Adam should be credited as a podcast pioneer! I remember there used to be an mp3 file from the Boston-Online of an appearence by Adam on CSPAN (maybe NPR or something) where he discussed the finer points of Boston English. It was like a pre-iPod podcast. Just a few years too early.
Wow, you DO have a good memory
Yep, I was on C-SPAN to talk about Boston English once. But I don't remember putting clips of that online (of course, my mind isn't what it should be these days); maybe you're thinking of the clips I put up from that Brigham's Wicked Good English competition I was a judge at?
I can't be the only one...
Like I said...steel trap! (Just don't tell everyone. My memory becomes selective at times.)
I swear the C-SPAN file (probably not an mp3, I think it was a realplayer file) was online. I know i just didn't "catch it" on C-SPAN, because other than seeing the British Parliment talk trash to Tony Blair, I have never watched two consecutive minutes of C-SPAN in my life.
The file I listened to was just a one-on-one in which you discussed the online "Wicked Good Guide to Boston English".
Any relation to New Media Strategies?

Converting and Foot Removal
BTW, I have already ripped the segment from my TiVo, and as soon as I remember how to convert it to a "nahmal" file, I'll upload to YouTube and post the link here.
You can take your foot out of your mouth, Adam. We forgive you! Plus, I bet it tastes yucky. Wouldn't you prefer a nice Take 5 bar?!
