It doesn't look all that different!

The layout's not that much

The layout's not that much changed, but I've been enjoying your experimentations with the banner. Love the T-token image.

On the new look

I've been liking the token you've added to the top. I like the new look in that all the sidebar stuff is on one side. Only thing I see that's not as nice is there is a lot of white space along the right side of the page. Maybe the whole page could be widened somehow.

Page width

Thanks! Yeah, if I stick with the new look (which, yes, is really just changing the position of two columns), I'll need to look at widening the page a bit.

Firefox

Its horrible in Firefox. Remember not everyone uses IE. Firefox is the best bet for browsers and UH has always been supportive of non-standard browsers.

What's wrong with it in Firefox?

By adamg | Sun, 11/12/2006 - 10:44pm

Firefox is actually my main browser these days (which has gotten me in trouble at work a couple of times where something looked just fine in Firefox, so I put it on our live servers but it was totally messed up in IE), so what are you seeing that sucks? Because I'm not seeing anything bad in Firefox, but maybe I'm missing something.

Criminy

Okay - I'm looking at this site via Firefox (latest version for mac) on some groundscore (iMac from when they were naming the hardware after fruit) with OS version Domestic Long-haired, and everything's just fine.

What Firefox issues could anyone be having that I'm not ?!

FF

I'm in Firefox, and I'm not seeing anything noticeably bad. I agree there is a lot of white space, but other than that, there aren't any noticeable errors.

Safari

It looks okay in Safari, too, except for too much white/wasted space to the right of the advertising column, leaving the main text area kind of narrow.

Firefox on Linux -- too much white space, too large a font

By Ron Newman | Mon, 11/13/2006 - 1:48pm

I'm looking at it now from Firefox on Linux. There is too much white space, and fonts are too large.

White space is not a browser issue

By adamg | Mon, 11/13/2006 - 2:26pm

It's a pure design issue :-).

The white space was there before but you didn't notice it as much because we're more used to content columns running down the center of a page, especially if it has a border on either side. Obviously, if I stick with this new left-content stuff, I'll need to dive into it more deeply than the roughly five minutes I spent moving the content over (the basic template I'm using makes such, well, basic changes pretty easy).

As for the large font size, again, not a browser issue - I made the font larger on purpose. But maybe I went too far.
