A better class of newspaper hawkers

Jesse Legg requests the Phoenix send its peppy, good-looking hawkers to the Davis Square T stop on a regular basis, rather than only every 40 years or so.

40th anniversary of Phoenix, or of Boston After Dark?

By Ron Newman | Thu, 11/16/2006 - 1:55pm

The 40th anniversary issue is lots of fun to read, but I'm not quite sure what is being celebrated. From what I can find on the web, the Cambridge Phoenix published its first issue on October 9, 1969. Boston After Dark, which later bought the Phoenix, started on March 2, 1966. This week isn't the 40th anniversary of either one.
