An overheard comment only somebody from Rozzie would get

OK, or maybe somebody from West Roxbury or Hyde Park.
We were in the Dedham Uno this evening. The party behind us was finishing up. Guy says:
How 'bout we go to the Pleasant Cafe for a little dessert?

Pleasant Cafe
The locals know that the Pleasant Cafe has the very best pizza around, and as for dessert he was talking about the wet refreshments.
Get with it Adam
( I can't stand transplants)
Not a big fan of yours!
Linda
Pfft
No, he wasn't talking about the bar. Because after he said everybody should retire to the Pleasant Cafe, he next said:
Might be hard for you to believe, Linda, but I wasn't dissing on the Pleasant - we go there fairly regularly ourselves - I just thought it was cool that I overheard some guy in Dedham talking about the Pleasant and I knew why he'd want to go there. Sheesh!
The Pleasant
I've been going there for over 40 years and I don't think I ever got dessert.
Get over yourself Linda
Stop reading the site. I am *not* a transplant and think you need to lighten up.
i dont understand why only
i dont understand why only someone from rozzie (or wrox or hpark) would "get" that comment. the pleasant has been there for a million years. i work with southie and dorchester guys who know of the pleasant. it's a restaurant, not a neighborhood secret.
as far as transplants, i would bet that the majority of readers/posters on this site are not native bostonians. i'm not saying it's a good thing or a bad thing, but there has always been hostility towards the "non-natives" from the "natives".
Yep, lots of people know about the Pleasant Cafe
Perhaps I should have written something like:
"It's something only people who have lived around here long enough to know that that seeming hole in the wall on Washington Street, the one that looks exactly like the old Happy Hour bar in Roslindale Square except with a cooler neon sign, the one that, on driving by on your way to the Dedham Uno's, you would never in a million years turn into its parking lot for pizza that's much better than that at Uno's, even if they don't have ice cream like Uno's does, it's that good, would get."
But that might not fit on a subject line.
Long subjects. Unrelated to themselves. Internal inconsistency.
It would. Fit. If you. Were. Don Saklad.

Shut Up Linda
Yeah, it's so unique that you are a real Rozzie townie. It's so special I can't think of anything more precious and sanctified than your nativity in that holy shrine that is your sweet birthplace--ROSLINDALE. Shut up about it already, all of you.
Everybody comes from somewhere. Everyone thinks there little shit town is so very special and unique. They aren't, and neither, ultimately, is Rozzie or Buffalo or where ever the hell it is and neither are you personally so very special or unique.
