Moving to Boston

I'm finally moving out! I'm going to be independent and responsible and all those grown up things I'm supposed to be at 24-years old, right? Wrong.

I'm living in NY right now and have lived here my ENTIRE life (including college) so it's time for a change... so that's why I'm moving to Boston!

This decision was not made overnight. I've been thinking about moving out of NY for the past year actually. The thoughts became a reality when I started dating a guy who lived about an hour outside of Boston. I had never even been to Massachusetts before meeting him so it was all very new and exciting.

So my now ex-boyfriend, we'll call him Mr. Heartbreaker simply because he's always the one to break the girl's heart and end the relationship (I was girlfriend #4 who this happened to), introduced me to the wonderful city of Boston.

Fast-forward 7 months later and he dumped me because "it just wasn't working out" so after crying for about 3-weeks straight, I decided I wanted to change my life. I didn't really like my job and I knew I would never move into Manhattan so it dawned on me, what's keeping me in New York?

I decided to start researching all of my options. I considered Philly, DC, Boston, Atlanta... I even emailed my ex-boyfriend and asked him what he thought about me moving to D.C.? He was concerned that I would never finish grad school (I had started the program after we broke up) and advised me to stay in NY for one more year until I had my Master's in Childhood Education. That reason was not good enough for me to stay... I wrote back that I could always transfer schools and that I needed a change - a challenge if you will. I wanted to meet new people and make new friends (plus, it didn't help that 4 of my 6 girlfriends are all engaged and getting married next year).

That's when the real research began...

We, as Bostonians, need to encourage as many New Yorkers (and SF'ers) to move here to Boston.

Only in comparison to their cities does Boston seem "inexpensive"!

This is very true since, in Manhattan, indoor garage parking costs close to $500 a month and in Boston, from what I've heard, it'ss close to $250 a month... I'll take Boston, thanks :)
