Citizen complaint of the day: The light pole that doesn't fit in

A color-conscious citizen complains about a brownish light pole on the path around Jamaica Pond:

Doesn't match color of every other streetlight around the pond. It's not black.

Because it's in Narnia.

The Narnia one is in the forested stretch between Wards and Willow ponds. It's a smaller, ancient gas-lit lamppost that is apparently non-functioning (but of course if you happen upon it in the middle of the winter when no-one else is around keep an eye out for faun prints).

They're shipped from the factory in that brown primer color.

Jacquelyn Goddard at Parks and Rec confirms that, indeed, the only reason the pole is brown is because it's factory fresh and just hadn't been painted that more soothing shade of black yet. But it will be, she promises.

I'd prefer that be dealt with first.

YES , THANKS FOR REMINDING US , THAT THE COLOR OF THE LIGHT POLE DOESNT ACTUALLY MATTER. WHEN I LIVED IN STONY BROOK , THERE WAS A "MEETING" WITH THE POLICE , BECAUSE THIS OLD CRANK WAS BUMMED WE DIDNT INVITE HER TO OUR COOK OUTS. THE POLICE BROUGHT SEVERAL PHONEBOOKS WORTH OF VIOLENT CRIME , AND TOLD THE LADY WHO CAZLLED THE MEETING TO STOP CALLING THEM BECAUSE OF US BBQ'ING

Some people say that if you're walking in a dangerous area late at night and you're approached by a group of suspicious-looking people, you're supposed to act completely crazy and shout nonsense things so they leave you alone. If that ever happens to me, I'm going to yell "THE POLICE BROUGHT SEVERAL PHONEBOOKS WORTH OF VIOLENT CRIME!" over and over.

Nothing like a 'caps lock' response that can bring a tear to the eye and a stitch in the side. +20!

...dealing with both of these issues. Also I think the city is capable of taking on more than one task at a time. But hey John, I'm sure your assinine snark will really light a fire under everyone involved!

Actually, this fits neurotic anal-retentive individual who made a citizen's complaint about the pole. John was just speaking common-sense.

Meet me there with a few cans of glow-in-the-dark spraypaint later tonight?
