Well, that's good to know

Universal Hub is relieved to read that Patriots Day was not really established to give people a day off to watch the Marathon (which Universal Hub understands to be a big race in these parts), because Universal Hub has long felt that the Revolutionary part of the holiday has been overlooked (and has the certificate from the Acton Minutemen to prove it; i.e., yes, Universal Hub once got up before dawn to march with the Minutemen to the re-enactment of the Battle of Old North Bridge in Concord, which Universal Hub much enjoys as a place to visit). This year, Universal Hub hopes to convince Ms. Universal Hub and the Universal Hubette to join Universal Hub at the Arlington Patriots' Day Parade, which starts at 9:15 a.m. and goes down Massachusetts Avenue, where Universal Hub hopes to get a good vantage point. Rumor on the street has it that Minutemen from all over the area will be in attendance.

More after the jump

Universal Hub is dismayed to read that some people think the re-enactors are so wussy that they do not re-enact the killings that took place on April 19, 1775. Universal Hub has it on good authority that re-enactors will be shot and stabbed that day - before everybody retires to local social clubs for much consumption of beer. Universal Hub is not a big fan of the ale, but can certainly sympathize - those uniforms are heavy and Universal Hub wouldn't want to carry a musket (even though they are now mostly Japanese replicas) in a parade.
