Da-da da na na -- the crowds!
Damn you!
I just wasted a half an hour on that Green Acres site! I love that show, but I was in the middle of doing something when I link hopped!

How long
did you try to come up with something that rhymed with "stix nix" before settling on the 60's sitcom idea?
About 30 seconds
Sometimes things just come together oh so wonderfully - in this case, after I noticed all the alleged perps that day were hicks, er, from outside 128.
I did have to think about "Dix," but decided, eh, a "dick" is a "detective" so it fits.
No
I meant for this thread, the one about Green Acres. Did you try to come up with another "-ix -ix" posting before giving up and going with the Eva Gabor/Eddie Arnold idea?
Oh, no!
True genius can't be duplicated. Plus, OK, I didn't even think of it. But hmm:
City chix nix hix lix
:-)
Oh well.
Oh, My
So I just went to the Green Acres site and then to the Q & A section. Just reading along and enjoying the trivia when I come upon a question concerning the county seat of Hooterville and the building that was always shown as the set up shot. It is... The Massachusetts State House, cleverly disguised by making the dome silver and cropping the shot just so.
Oh, the shame.
OMG!
That's amazing!
A couple months ago, Stephen Colbert did the same thing.
Stop stealing our cultural heritage, you bastihds!
It appears to me that an
It appears to me that an awful lot of cast members died of respiratory failure/pneumonia/lung cancer. Hmm.
Did Arnold inadvertently kill them?
Pigs are particularly susceptible to pneumonia. The literature shows that pig-human transmission of pneumonia-causing viruses has occurred. And while it's not true that "Green Acres" cast members enjoyed an Arnold barbecue when the series ended, the empirical evidence of Delayed Enzootic Pneumonia cannot be ruled out.
Green Acres cast deaths
Remember that 50 or 60 years ago, pretty much everybody smoked. At least, a significantly higher percentage of the population than do now. If this sort of information were available for other shows of the same era, it's likely we'd see a similar pattern of causes of death.
