Some people get all the luck

Miss Browneyedgirlie woke up at 5:15 this morning with her school still not announced as closed:

Resigned to this, I trudged upstairs to do Pilates, disappointed that I wouldn't be able to catch a few extra winks.

After my workout, at 5:47 a.m., I checked WBZ, still holding out hope...

A minute later, I received the good news: Snow Day!

Happy Wednesday and Happy Valentine's Day - I'm curling up with my kitties, warm and cozy in my flannel pjs, and going back to bed. ...

Here in rugged Boston, schools are, of course, open (it wasn't just the weatherpeople who made bad predictions).

Way down in Quincy, meanwhile, Steve frets about our poor TV newspeople:

Last night's promised snowfall amounts to nothing this morning, a dusting so thin it would leave a cake looking unfinished, and newscasters awake from their visions of snowplows and school closings, power outages and pileups, and they sigh behind their iceless windows to face one more day of celebrity sightings and online predation, the snowday they prayed so hard for - the one they deserved! - delivered instead to some other city and to some other newscasters who must have deserved it a little bit more.

Still snowing...

After I wrote that very early this morning, the snow did get a bit heavier before turning to the slush and sleet we're getting now. So perhaps there will be enough weather-panic stories to go 'round for all the newsrooms today. Here's hoping.

Yes, we could get that FLASH FREEZE they've been dreaming about

Wouldn't that be something?

"I was driving my Explorer down 495, only 10 miles over the speed limit because of all the snow and stuff, when all of a sudden: BOOM! the road just froze solid and I skidded into that Prius!"
