The Red Line has him coming and going

Charlie on the MBTA gets e-mail from somebody reporting that the T's online trip planner claims the best way to get from Brookline to South Station without walking much is to take the Green Line to Park Street, then the Red Line to JFK/UMass, then to get on the Red Line the other way to South Station.

The planner has a nasty habit of putting you on express busses even when they save no time. They don't even offer the alternative bus to bus as an option.

To get from Mefuh to Chahstown, it always tells me to take the 326 to Haymarket and then backtrack on the 93 toward Sullivan.

The fastest method is to take the 95 that runs every 20 minutes to Sullivan and pick up the 93 (supposed to be every 10 minutes or so if they don't drop a bus). I have gotten to work in less than 40 minutes when I've hit all the connections.

There is no "no express bus" option in the planner.

Either they are admitting that their non-express schedules are merely theoretical, or they are trying to get people to spend vastly more for bus rides than they need to.
