Changing Boston's Neigborhoods one Transaction at a Time
By bgoodman - 3/5/07 - 2:25 pm
You care about the schools, businesses, and non-profits that make up your community. The decisions you make when you shop have a direct impact on the communities in which you live. When you shop at participating businesses with your Boston Community Change card, a portion of each transaction is returned to you as a cash rebate and a portion is directed to support the local Main Street organization and a nonprofit or school of your choice - encouraging you to shop locally and share locally.
Cards are FREE at www.bostoncommunitychange.org

I don't see how I can select
I don't see how I can select the school or nonprofit that you want to benefit from my purchases. I could not find anything on the website that indicated anything about target nonprofits. So how does this work?
Help with Signing Up
You choose your non-profit or school when you sign up for a card. To sign up for a card you choose "Get a Change Card"
http://www.bostoncommunitychange.org/getacard
During your signup process, you will be able to search for the school or nonprofit of your choice.
Re: Help Signing Up
Brian,
Thanks for your reply. I found that you could select your charity in the membership application after hunting around the site quite a bit. It does not help that the site goes out of their way to hide all the hyper links - quite user-unfriendly.
Moreover, there does not seem to be a way to see a list of charities affiliated with this project. There should be a way of looking up prospective charities without going through the sign-up process.
All in all, the web site is not very well designed. Nice look, but poor functionality.
