What happens

If a coyote eats an animal that has consumed some of the recalled dog or cat food?

Actually, it is more likely that somebody will throw out some tainted pouches of cuts and gravy and coyotes will raid their garbage for it. Perhaps those with the recalled food should be careful of how they dispose it - even the neighbor's pooch might scavenge (dogs? never).

so are you saying that it

so are you saying that it would be unfortunate if a potentially child attacking, poodle eating coyote ate some bad dog food and died? i love animals and respect nature, and i realize that there are reasons that the coyotes, foxes, deer etc are getting closer and closer to humans, but coyotes can be lethal to children.

Do you ever get out of the city?

Child attacking? Puh-leeze. My kids were trained at an early age to come in if they saw a large dog - and I'm far more concerned about the off-leash psychotic husky or german shepards than a coyote attacking them. Get your stats straight.

That said, the bad food is POISON. Maybe it isn't the coyote that eats it, but your neighbor's dog? Or even kid? Skunks dying in tight places are not pleasant to remove, either.

"coyotes can be lethal to children"

So can poodles.

yes poodles can be deadly.

yes poodles can be deadly. it's an epidemic. large dogs do attack children regularly - that is undisputable. the difference between a large somewhat domesticated dog and a coyote is that a coyote will not approach a child out in the open. it will hang a round the tree line/brush and wait until a child gets close. i see coyotes regularly at work, and they have never attacked me (though they have run right by me).
if my child is eating trash from the barrels outside, i have larger issues to deal with than coyotes.

So the uncleared sidewalks

So the uncleared sidewalks and unlit street lamps along that area aren't deterrent enough to walkers; now I have to worry about wild animals? Sheesh.
