How to shoot a cop and get a pension out of it

Be on the police force yourself. One of the reasons that cop charged with shooting another cop in a drunken rage last June pleaded guilty yesterday was because that way he gets to keep his city pension:

... He also indicated in court that he would turn in his badge after 27 years of service to the Boston Police Department, entitling him to a city pension. ...

By pleading guilty, Paul Durkin also avoided a trial and was sentenced to three years' probation and evaluation for alcohol abuse.
