Newton and Watertown bloggier than Cambridge and Somerville?

Outside.in claims the two Charles River towns are among America's ten bloggiest neighborhoods.

The data's based on their stats and Technorati rankings.

Sorry, and no offense to folks in these two fine communities, but, just, no. Cambridge has at least 90 blogs and Somerville 60 or so compared to 15 for Newton and 14 for Watertown.

Bah. I should stop worrying about stuff like this and go find women with leggings I can make fun of.

Blogging about blogging is just a bit too meta for me.

I think Watertown being on the list is a nod more to Lisa Williams H2otown.info and that blogs influence more then anything else. Also it should be pointed out that Watertown has more blogs per person then Newton. Either way, it is safe to say the whole Boston Metro area is pretty damn bloggy.

I read that report

I had a feeling, too, that it wasn't accurate. I mean, even my neighborhood of JP has to have more blogs than Newton and Watertown.

Well, Watertown is notorious...

Watertown

I'm weakening my town's case here, but...

I think the problem is that Watertown is included in a list of neighborhoods (as is Newton, for that matter.) Perhaps the other locales Adam mentions - Cambridge, especially - are not taken as a neighborhood, but rather as a collection of them?

(I'm not saying this is right, of course. Watertown and Newton can both be broken down into quite a few different actual neighborhoods, as most everybody knows.)

More does not mean better

Just because you have MORE blogs does not mean that they are all of high quality. And does it really count when some of them have not been updated in over three months? ( http://eatdrinkreview.blogspot.com/ and http://fauxbohemian.livejournal.com/ were the first two blogs I checked out from that list of 90)

I do agree that the list was more about highlighting h2otown.info and the other individual blogs that it was about the neighborhoods themselves.

how do I add a Somerville blog to that list?

By Ron Newman | Wed, 04/25/2007 - 2:03pm

It does not include Davis Square LiveJournal. I filled out the "Add a listing" form but that didn't seem to have any effect.

It's in the database

But I haven't had a chance to update that in a day or so, sorry.
