Guy trying to impress son strikes out with police

An out-of-towner who ran on the field at Fenway yesterday, earning himself a quick trip to a police clubhouse, allegedly told officers he did it to impress his 7-year-old son, who was also at the game. Fortunately, the kid's grandfather was also there, to take him home after dad got caught in the rundown with police. No word on whether the guy's wife now wants to trade him.

Speaking of things you probably don't want to do: If you see a knife embedded in an electrical cable, do not attempt to pull it out. You might just cause an explosion that'll put you in the hospital (and knock out power to several thousand people). At least he did it on Sunday in Brighton. Police report he managed to lurch down the street for awhile; can you imagine if he'd done it Saturday during the Somerville Zombie march? Everybody would think he was just playing in character.

Also click on the link to read about a cell-phone holdup in Mattapan foiled by an off-duty officer, an on-duty officer almost run over by some guy allegedly upset when the officer tried to stop him from driving the wrong way down a one-way street and the arrest of a Roxbury man for allegedly winning a fight by using a Taser on his opponent.

I've tried to post a rebuttal about Story No. 2 on the Allston/Brighton Tab blog. For some reason, they have reporters blogging on their own stories and when you go to comment it sends you directly to an error message. Hence, going to have to do it here (and totally not deserved since you just reported it).

Not only do I know the person who was the victim of electric shock on Sunday morning, I "suffered" through the short power outage, and my brother's engine was first to respond on the scene. One police officer's report - one opinion of the several people who responded, claimed that this man was trying to steal copper and it is bothersome to me because they did not report that a) he had a coffee in his hand at the time and b) he also had a bunch of balloons for his daughter in his hands at the time.

What also needs to be considered is that this man never changed his story about the knife, never once as he sat there being treated for extremely severe burns and a shock that honestly, should have killed him.

Now, I am not going to say that what he did was not a mistake or extremely ridiculous, but I just would like to voice that he was not trying to steal copper at 10:00AM on a Sunday morning with balloons and a dunkies in hand.

Again, please know that I am not posting this here in rebuttal to you (because quite frankly, I don't think I'd get through the day without my daily dose of Universal Hub, seriously I am addicted) but I felt that there was no other outlet since the A/B tab does not let people comment on their site.

i should also say up front that i know this kid too.i also think it
makes no sense for someone to steal copper at 10am Sunday Mothers day on a main st.If he wanted to steal it couldn’t he have come back later when it was dark? it just makes no sense.

the other part of the story is even more interesting. late saturday night there was a huge fight on Murdock st in Brighton. Murdock st runs parallel to Dustin St. I know this fight happened because I called 911. In the middle of the fight some girl was screaming about a knife and someone being cut. As soon as she started talking about the knife a group of the fighters started to run in the same direction, towards Dustin St. When the cops arrived they spent a lot of time with flashlights asking the remaining people "where the knife is?" maybe it was sticking out of a pole on Dustin St waiting for some poor chump to come along and try to pull it out? this is my theory. get well rich.
