Stillness

At times, Jamaica Pond seemed more a still photo than a pond today - the mist blurred its edges, the water didn't move. But then a pair of ducks came quacking along. A guy re-cast his fishing line. Joggers trotted around a bend. And birds up in the trees chirped. It was a good day for a walk around the pond.

Thanks for sharing the photo. Great shot of the pond.

The Mystic River Watershed Association just announced their photo contest winners today. I was one of the winners, for a similar still scene taken last May after the big flood.

And only peripherally related, folks should take some time to read "Stillwater", the third and apparently final novel written by former governor Bill Weld. He tells the story of teenagers whose towns are about to be destroyed to create the Quabbin Reservoir.

Where in Medford did you take that photo?

We walked to Medford Square, over the pedestrian bridge, then along the south side of the river to Winthrop St. We got there just before it was getting too dark to take pictures with my basic 4MP digital camera, but I got a couple of nice shots. I was facing upriver (west) from the bridge.

Good looking photo. You should consider adding it to the Boston Photos on IgoUgo.com.
