You know those emergency intercoms at the end of subway cars? Don't bother

Either train crews can't hear them or they just ignore them, but in any case, an Orange Line train left State Street station with a man caught in one of the doors yesterday - even as other passengers got on the intercom to try to get the driver to stop the train:

... When the train pulled into Downtown Crossing, the doors did not open again. After a T official noticed passengers banging on the car's windows, he entered the car and opened the doors manually, Weston said. ...

Earlier:
They don't work on the Red Line, either.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who has witnessed this (and wrote about it). You wouldn't believe how much email I got after I wrote my entry -- most of the email accused me of making it up. As if I have nothing better to do with my time. I passed on all the details (I didn't want to publish) of my encounter to the head of Operations for the Red Line - hopefully these stories will bring about some awareness and the incidents in this article will be looked into.

Three months ago the same thing happened to our car when we arrived at Braintree. Only since it was the end of the line we were stuck there ten minutes until a T employee who wasn't an ass noticed us pounding on the windows and opened the doors. The first T employee who noticed, ignored us.
