Not a real Trup-er

Lance refuses to believe that Red Sox Nation turns its lonely ears to Jerry Trupiano:
... There were nights when the sound of Jerry Trupaino made me wish I were driving off a cliff. ... I've always thought of Trupiano as that crazy uncle that corners you at a family reunion. You know, the one who talks your ears off, spewing unlistenable craziness until somone--in Troop's case, Joe Castiglone--jumps in to rescue you.

Well, I Loved Trupiano

Trupiano had real wit, a good ear for a pun, great pipes, and a plain friendliness in his voice that I found quite enjoyable. Nothing against the newer guys in the booth, but I'm going to need a lot of time to cozy up to them as much as I did Trup.

I didn't like listening to Trupiano's radio work for the Red Sox. He was frequently saying stuff that made me scream, "WHAT?!" It was much more frustrating, however, to hear him argue, refute and consistently oppose the things that Constiglione would say. A hypothetical example:
Joe: "I think Big Papi likes hitting ahead of Manny in the order."
Jerry: "I think you're wrong there. I bet he'd love to hit in the cleanup spot."
WHY ARE YOU ARGUING WITH JERRY?!
There's a drive!!!

I miss Trupiano, partly for the laughs. However I was never able to distinguish his voice from Joe's.
