Prosecutors: Argument over child led to fatal South End stabbing
Juan Figueroa, 23, of East Boston, was ordered held without bail today in connection with the March 11 stabbing of John Austin.
The Suffolk County District Attorney's office says Austin was the father of Figueroa's girlfriend's son:
... Austin was returning his three-year-old son to his ex-girlfriend, the child's mother. With the mother was her new boyfriend, Figueroa.
After putting the boy in their car, [Assistant DA Masai] King said, Figueroa told Austin that he was "a bad father" to the child. That remark led to a verbal altercation that soon escalated to a physical confrontation.
It was during that confrontation, King said, that Figueroa produced a knife and stabbed Austin at least five times in the face and chest before fleeing the scene with his girlfriend and the child. ...

Oh yeah
cuz that's what a good father does.
John was a very very good
John was a very very good father
No arguments there
I didn't know the decedent, and am perfectly willing to believe he was a very very good father.
I'm commenting on the outrageousness of a man (Figueroa) calling someone else (Austin) a bad father and then proceeding to stab him to death in front of the child. That's not the kind of thing a good father would do. I think Figueroa wouldn't have known a good father if one bit him on the ass.
