Somerville divestment from Israel

The Somerville board of aldermen rejected a proposal to ensure no city funds were invested in Israel bonds, so proponents are now seeking a ballot question to force the question. Solomon: I thought Leftists were supposed to understand that "No means No:"

... The bottom line here is that the divestment campaign is the effort of a group of anti-Israel hobbyists for whom the World Championship Red Sox and Patriots hold insufficient appeal. Their interest is not Somerville and its community - if that were the case they would have taken "no" for an answer the first time rather than resurrecting and flogging this poor dead horse. Somerville the community is merely the stepping stone for feeding their pet effort - delegitimizing Israel. Nothing else matters. ...

Carpundit wonders why what he considers anti-Semitic protesters are going to such great lengths in Somerville:

... Who cares whether Somerville divests from Israel? What do they have to invest anyway, a couple old T-roof Camaros and half a six-pack of Schlitz? ...

Carpundit needs to take a walk around Davis Square before accepting the outdated and insulting stereotype of Somerville as a trashy place for poor people.

Well, I for one can say that Somerville has made me poor enough that I'm actually looking for places to move where Camaros and Schlitz *aren't* ironic hipster statements.
