Channel 7: All Farked up

Brian Kane notices growing similarities between Channel 7 news and Fark:

...[I]t's like they just threw out any semblance of a "newsroom" and just cherry-pick stories off of goofy Internet news sites. Especially if there's video. Some nights the LEAD STORY will be some lame-ass piece of satellite video of something that happened in Ohio or Alabama or some other place thousands of miles away. For me, though, I think they crossed a line on Wednesday night when they ran JibJab's "Star Spangled Banner" video as news. ...

My understanding is that channel 7 has been doing this for years. It's hard to distinguish them from ET, Access Hollywood, and the likes.

Yes, it has been going on for a while, but lately I am noticing that it is much worse. I was just wondering if other people were noticing the same thing.

i was very sick and out of work for the whole month of march.during my illness my best friend was my tv.i watched a lot of news.after about two days i was ready to throw my best friend out the window.the news(all 4 local stations)are nothing more then the same 4 or 5 stories repeated over and over during the course of their 4-6:30 newscasts.they break down into these 30 minute segments and the first two minutes is really the only stuff worth watching.after that it is weather weather weather about 25 seconds of sports and then some lame ass story about an aligator in a mall in michigan or some other stupid thing i had already read on the drudge report 4 days earlier.it does seem like they are getting alot of their content from TMZ,Drudge and other internet sources and then just working it like its got some local angle. They tease tease tease making you think maybe the aligator was in the cambridgeside galleria or something. i miss the old days before the internet and before they decided our attention spans were not able to digest indepth information packed news stories.the news started at 6 and you had about 15-20 minutes of local and national news, 5 minutes of weather, 10 minutes of sports and five mintes of entertainment with joyce or whoever.now it is just like a loop of terrible usa today type news.

worse than rock bottom?

two or three years ago I reached the point where I couldn't tolerate the channel 7 news. It might have gotten worse, but how much further can you sink once you've descended into hell? ;-)

when i moved to boston from the midwest i thought that such a big, east coast culture den as boston must have local news that was closer to the national news in terms of journalism and integrity, instead of the breezy non-essential of midwestern cities' local news. I was disappointed after about a week.

I've lived here for over 3 years, and I don't know the local channels by letter, number, or network. This is the first city I've ever lived in where that was true.
