Whatever happened to the retail calendar?

This is supposed to be the "end-of-summer clearance" and "back-to-school" retail season.

Fall starts the day after Labor Day; all of the shelves are stripped bare and restocked with the next season (Halloween and winter clothes). All Hallows Day was the "Thanksgiving/XMas/Toys start hitting the shelves" day.

I used to get serious overtime on season-switch days, back in the 70's when I was a HS student and working at the local mall.

Sheesh!
