Two children murdered in Roslindale

Found stabbed to death dead around 9 p.m.; mother rushed to hospital. 4 Maynard Rd. (off Poplar, near Metropolitan). Police are calling it a domestic incident.

It's the second act of violence in the normally quiet neighborhood in recent days. On Thursday, a man dressed like a Ninja shot a woman inside her Filomena Road home.

That is a nice neighborhood. I live only a few blocks away on Beech. The Herald is reporting it as Hyde Park, I'm not sure why. It's only a few blocks off Washington Street.

Yes, it is a nice neighborhood

Not at all far from my house; and it's just awful.

As for the Herald (and the Globe): They need to hire somebody to teach reporters about Boston neighborhoods.

Have you ever noticed that in the paper, Manny Delcarmen is alternatively referred to being from West Rocks, Hyde Park and Jamaica Plain?

The younger Manny

I think the confusion there is he grew up in Hyde Park but went to West Roxbury High School (not a clue where the JP part comes in).

west rox, not west rocks

Murders in Roslindale

By survivorofhomicide (not verified) | Mon, 07/30/2007 - 12:53pm

Two children, killed by their suicidal mother, and the comments thread ends up worrying where a home-grown baseball player is referenced in the media as growing up. That is heartbreaking to me. My only hope is that the topic itself is too tragic to touch

You are right: It is horrible

How can one contemplate a parent doing that to her children? What else can one say?

This is typical to this blog

There's always someone looking to either embarass or lay a guilt trip decrying someone's post.

How dare you . . .[insert sanctmonius language here]

I didn't mean to guilt trip you. Honestly. I simply find it too easy for people to move past the violence in our city. And as for your posts in general. I really like them! As a homicide survivor myself, I know how quickly people move on from caring about tragedy when it isn't theirs...that's all.

Kids not stabbed

The Globe reports on the mother's history and slips in that authorities don't yet know how the children died, except that it wasn't from stab wounds (so the blood all over the place must have been from the mother stabbing herself). Don't read the story if you don't want to get really sad.
